Elite Management Training Institute, the Abu Dhabi based leading educational institution in the provision of quality and distinguished training, has recently conducted a training course in Arabic as a foreign language for non-native speakers in its head office located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
This course has emanated from Elite Management Training Institute’s noble message aiming at disseminating knowledge and culture and out of its keenness to acquaint the residents who live on the land of our courteous Emirates with our customs and traditions, of which we are proud. It is rather an initiative we launched in pursuit of helping non Arab residents communicate and get integrated with the Arabic-language-speaking community by learning this language which is heretofore spoken by more than 422 million persons in the world¹ and is actually the Semitic language the most spoken in the world, which will eventually help the trainees communicate with a large segment of UAE residents.
The course witnessed a good turnout, where considerable numbers of trainees from various backgrounds and cultures, motivated by their desires to learn Arabic in an atmosphere of avail and professionalism on one hand and joy and fun on another hand have taken it, which was obviously demonstrated in the comments made by some students who started to speak some Arabic words from the first day with an unparalleled enthusiasm.
Mr. Walid Moussa, Arabic Language Department Chairperson in Elite Management Training Institute is the Lecturer in charge of this course owing to the more than forty-five-year-long experience he has in teaching Arabic for non-native speakers in different schools of the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates, to say nothing of his effective contribution in developing and promoting the teaching methodologies of Arabic and the Arabic literature and his having worked for Emirates News Agency (WAM) as a Proofreader.
Mr. Walid Moussa holds a BA in Arabic Literature and also the General Education & Philosophy Diploma. He published a collection of poems which gained recognition of Emirates Writers Union and comprised modules of Arabic poetry.
The course lasted for 18 days given at two hours a day in which the lecturer led his students to sound the aspects of this language and learn its basic principles such as the Arabic letters and their forms and how they are written and pronounced in addition to words and sentences and their meanings and how to use that in daily life so as to prepare the trainees for the next training course.
The trainees receive at the end of the course an “attendance certificate” certified by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the government body in charge of the licensing and supervision of training institutes. Elite Management Training Institute is also organizing a competition for students on its Facebook page to encourage them to continue to learn Arabic the language of the world’s unique letter (ض) pronounced thus “thðǣd”
