EMTI organizes an outreach campaign about breast cancer under the slogan “Promote the pink color and contribute to awareness”.
EMTI, the Abu Dhabi based leading educational institution in the provision of quality and distinguished training, has recently organized an awareness campaign about breast cancer in its head office located in Abu Dhabi.
EMTI has day after day demonstrated its having shouldered responsibilities to the public and the community by coping with everything concerning the society and contributing to awareness raising and upgrading its cultural and awareness level, which has been clearly manifested in the Breast Cancer Awareness Raising Campaign organized by EMTI in its head office with a view to raising awareness of breast cancer which is proven to be among the most common types of cancer in the world according to the statistics of the World Health Organization, as 508,000 women died of breast cancer in 2011, with 80% of breast cancer patients having a complete recovery in developed countries and 40% in poor countries.
Thence, and out of EMTI’s belief in the social responsibility lying therewith, it resolved to have a role in raising and disseminating further awareness and information that would contribute to reducing the high numbers of breast cancer death cases, and thus came the idea of launching a breast cancer awareness campaign in October which is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month where EMTI distributed pink ribbons which were worn by its staff to express their promotion and moral support for women with breast cancer and encourage them to fight and overcome the disease and prompt women in general to have regular check for breast cancer because a dirham of prevention is better than a quintal of cure.
The breast cancer awareness campaign which took place on Sunday 26th October 2014 at 6 pm started with a welcoming the participants and acquainting them with the activity followed by a lecture given by Dr. Diana Abdullah who gave a concise lecture to introduce the disease, then a discussion about the problems and difficulties facing breast cancer prevention and cure was held as well as the ways and means of disseminating awareness to curb breast cancer and perhaps eradicate it through concerted efforts in the future. The campaign was concluded by distributing pink cakes and drinks to the attendees.
