The course focused on the correct pronunciation and the learning of the commonly preferred Emirati dialect
Elite Management Training Institute, the Abu Dhabi based leading educational institution in the provision of quality and distinguished training, has recently concluded a training course in the Emirati dialect for the non-native speakers of this dialect in its headquarters located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The course was launched under the slogan “Hayyakum Allah” which stems from EMTI’s noble message in spreading awareness and culture, and out of its keenness to acquaint those who reside on the land of our beloved Emirates with our customs, traditions, and dialect of which we are so proud and help them learn Arabic which is spoken by as many as 422 million speakers around the world¹ in addition to the focus on the Emirati dialect to facilitate local communication and also in pursuit of helping non-Arab residents communicate and integrate with the society.
This course represents the first-fruit and the dawn of cooperation between EMTI and R-4 Integration, Inc. that put its trust in the Institute to teach its employees Arabic, which prompted the Institute’s Management to exert more effort and work hard to prove its efficiency and ability to compete with the largest companies in an effort to satisfy its clients whether individuals or companies from the public and private sectors.
The course was conducted over six days, from the 3rd to the 9th of December, (exclusive of Friday the 5th of December) at a teaching rate of three hours a day, where the subjects taught to the participants ranged from an introduction to Arabic, the importance of learning Arabic phonetics and letters, and the frequently used vocabulary in everyday life to figures, in addition to Arabic history and culture of which we are so proud, not to mention the Emirati dialect that was well conserved by the Emirati people over the years as beautiful, preferred, and original as it is nowadays.
Mr. Walid Moussa, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Department of Arabic Language in EMTI, was the Course Instructor thanks to his extensive experience and more than 45 year-long history of teaching Arabic for non-native speakers in the UAE Ministry of Education schools, not to mention his effective contribution to the development of curricula involving the methods and methodologies of Arabic and Arabic literature teaching and his having worked as a language editor for the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Mr. Walid holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic literature, the General Education Diploma, and a Philosophy Diploma. He published a collection of poems that was recognized by the Emirates Writers Union, comprising models of Arabic poetry.
The trainees receive at the end of the course a completion certificate certified by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the government body in charge of the licensing and supervision of training institutes.
