Mr. Mahdi Ibrahim Al Khatib was the lecturer in charge of this course owing to his extensive experience in translation and interpretation, which expands over a period of more than ten years in several countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Syria, and Oman, not to mention his having worked for embassies and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in the United Arab Emirates as a legal translator and interpreter and his holding the master’s degree in translation and interpretation, with distinction.
The course lasted for nine days and was given at a teaching speed of two hours a day in which the lecturer led his students deeply into the real world of translation and showed them live models of problems facing the legal translator and how to deal with them without disregarding the necessity to bring up the theoretical aspect of the topic and balance the practical aspect with the theoretical one and what is written and what is done, in addition to discussing real models of regular, medical, and technical texts and how to deal with them in the legal context, not to mention the many examples of powers of attorney and court documents.
The trainees receive at the end of the course a completion certificate certified by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the government body in charge of the licensing and supervision of training institutes.
