The course was conducted on the 27th of May at a teaching speed of 6 hours a day in which the participants learnt a lot about erecting and dismantling scaffolds. The training topics ranged from an introduction to scaffolds and their various types, parts, standards, purposes, and methods of prevention when working in high buildings, mobile scaffolds and their methods of use, and the dangers associated thereto, not to mention the different causes of scaffold collapse and how they are inspected, in addition to a practical session about scaffold erection.
The training course was piloted by Mr. Thomas Fernandez, a bilingual well qualified instructor with more than 15 years of experience in the field of oil and gas who holds NEBOSH International General Certificate and two IOSH certificates in Occupational Safety, Management Safety, and Health & Safety in Workplace (Levels 1, 2, and 3) as well as entering narrow places, basic and advanced first aid for children and work at high altitudes.
The trainees receive at the end of the course a completion certificate certified by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the government body in charge of the licensing and supervision of training institutes.
