EMTI confirms the profundity of its objective and its call for peace out of the social responsibility it shoulders
Elite Management Training Institute (EMTI), the Abu Dhabi based leading education institution in the provision of quality and distinguished training, has recently attended a lecture themed “Dangers of Sectarian Conflicts and Means to Confront Them” conducted by Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research at Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Hall at the headquarters of the Centre in Abu Dhabi on the 3rd of June, 2015.
Islam has always recognized diversity between humans {O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted} (Surat Al-Hujurat, Verse 13), rejected coercion in the propagation of the religion, and provided protection and care for the followers of other religions. Furthermore, there are instructions for the management of disagreement between Muslims themselves {O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.} (Surat An-Nisa’, Verse 59), {And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.} (Surat Al-Hujurat, Verse 9).
However, violence that is not resulting from sectarianism, i.e. between different segments of a particular thinking style, is not necessarily connected to the religion, as there are sectarian adversities and ordeals of political reasons (such as the conflicts between communists and nationalists in China triggered in the early twentieth century when the Chinese Nationalists emerged at that time and constituted a sectarian adversity). Among the reasons that would lead to sectarian ordeals are conflicts of superpowers, the political, social, and cultural climate, and of course economic conditions¹
Our region is currently enduring many conflicts that fall within this concept, and thus emerged the importance of giving this lecture to throw light on its most important aspects and dreadful impasses and develop awareness of its consequences that serve the interests of nobody.
Hence came EMTI’s participation in this lecture to learn more about this issue and benefit the most from the thinking of the Honorable Scholar Sayyed Mohamad Ali El Husseini, Secretary General of the Arab Islamic Council in Lebanon, an influential man in the Arab and Islamic worlds who is highly respected in the political, intellectual, and religious circles as well as among all the references, scholars and active figures in the intellectual, religious and political arenas, especially in the Arab and Islamic countries owing to his openness-characterized intellectual and political opinion, his moderate religious attitude, and call for unity and rejection of the segregation and sectarianism approach.²
