The seminar tackled the most effective methods of translation and how to deal with texts and resources

Elite Management Training Institute (EMTI), the Abu Dhabi based leading education institution in the provision of quality and distinguished training, has recently held a seminar on legal translation at its seat located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 12 March 2016.

The free seminar was attended by more than thirty people and lasted four hours. It witnessed the participation of translators and people concerned with the translation industry such as new graduates, experienced people, and translators accredited by the UAE Ministry of Justice, which created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and fruitful discussion among the attendees.

During this Seminar snacks and soft drinks were served for free.

The attendees discussed the translation concepts and the ways and means of dealing with various types of texts in general and with legal texts in particular, tackling some of the problems of the translation profession such as the weak knowledge of Arabic language presented by most of the translators and the inability to build sentences and use expressions in a manner suitable for the targeted beneficiaries, as well as the existence of persons who have nothing to do with this profession and who cannot expediently handle legal texts.

The seminar was piloted by Mr. Mohammed Adnan al-Tarawneh, a translator working for Elite Legal Translation Services who has a wealth of experience in dealing with various legal documents such as contracts, agreements, memoranda and articles of association, statutes, laws, and regulations, to name a few, not to mention his great knowledge of and familiarity with the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the legal translation standards applicable in the labor market. It is noteworthy that Mr. Mohammed Al-Tarawneh holds a bachelor’s degree in translation from Yarmouk University in Jordan and is seeking to obtain his translation accreditation from the UAE Ministry of Justice soon.
