Training Description
This training provides participants with an appreciation of the significance of fire safety and their responsibilities so that they can act in a competent manner in the event of fire to minimize risk and injuries and to aid in the prevention of the spread of fire. This one day program is a combination of theory and practical training on fire prevention and firefighting techniques. The course will take the participants through a range of fire related topics; principles of fire triangle, location of firefighting equipment and escape routes, fire chemistry and ignition sources, fire hazards, flammable materials and fire spread, need for vigilance and readiness for emergency response, fire/smoke detection and alarm systems, portable firefighting equipment, PPE & RPE. The afternoon practical session includes using hand-held firefighting equipment on real fires. Every participant takes part in using the extinguishers.
Training Objectives
Each attendee who will complete this training will gain the following outcomes:-
- Apply a practical knowledge and skills on fire fighting
- Discuss fire prevention and firefighting techniques including principles of fire triangle, location of firefighting equipment and escape routes as well as fire chemistry and ignition sources
- Employ fire hazards, flammable materials and fire spread
- Determine the need for vigilance and readiness for emergency response
- Control fire and smoke detection and alarm systems
- Enumerate portable firefighting equipment
- Discuss the difference between PPE and RPE
- Demonstrate hand-held firefighting equipment on real fire using the extinguisher
- Practice firefighting in a safely and professional manner

This course is beneficial for Fire warden personnel and those individuals who are in charged with fire safety.

Before the course
Each delegate will be asked to complete a Pre-Course Assessment Form to determine their current level and objectives for attending the course. The content of such Form will be used by the trainer only to give tailored training that is focused on each group of delegates.
At the end of the course
Each delegate will be asked to complete an Individual Development Plan and Vocational Completion Certificate.
